Seveno 80
Whyteleafe III 81-3

Nine-man Whyteleafe's third string sealed an easy victory over Seveno by seven wickets on Saturday after having their league fixture conceded by Kempton earlier in the week.

Losing the toss, Whyteleafe were asked to field, as plugging the gaps looked difficult. Opening bowler Waters went unrewarded but J Fernandes, from the opposite end struck with an in-swinging yorker on middle stump.

Further confusion between the wickets let to two simple run-outs by N Goodwin and J Fernandes. Each Seveno batsman looked set but seemingly got themselves out trying to hit too hard and mis-timing shots. C Widmers flight and loop troubled the batsman and after keeper M Goodwin put two catches down, the young achievers frustration started to become evident.

Nonetheless, he persevered taking 4-15. A final over from T Samuel wrapped up the tail bowling the last man round his legs.

Leafe needing just 81 to win had three early showers but still duly knocked off the target in 10.4 overs on a pitch that had loads for the bowlers.

But P Bright (33*) and C Widmer (22*) took on the attack with sublime timing and placing without having to play any risky shots and forming a 55-run partnership.
