Old Wimbledonians 227-9
Warlingham 230-8

A superb hundred from left hander Dil Amin took Warlingham to victory at Old Wimbledonians on Saturday.

Wimbledonians set a challenging target of 227, with all batsmen reaching double figures, except for opener Dowse who was dismissed early on for a single. Captain Tim Slade then picked up two wickets from the other end, to leave the game in the balance at 66-3.

The introduction of off-spin from both ends then curbed the scoring rate as Kieron Patel bowled nine overs for 30, and Mahesh Amin picked up 3-56 from 16.

But some lusty blows from tailenders Jolly and Johnson took Wimbledonians to a good score, and they closed on 227-9 after Slade (3-66) had returned to bowl Johnson for 24.

The target looked a challenging one for a side missing several regular batsmen but Amin, promoted after making a hundred for the seconds last week, looked in command from the start. When in this sort of form, Amin has the ability to make good bowling look very ordinary.

His 104 came off just 97 balls and included 21 fours, most of which were elegant and effortless drives which pierced the off side field.

But a middle order blip saw five wickets lost for just 32 runs, putting the game on a knife edge at 182-6. Slade (23) had the satisfaction of striking the winning hit, as Warlingham got home in the nick of time.
