A group of year eight students from Archbishop Tenison School had to be recalled from a museum trip after the terror attacks in the city.

The students were in London to visit the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum in South Kensington last Thursday, but were informed by staff at the Science Museum that they were unable to open after what was believed to be a power surge on the underground.

Headteacher Richard Ford heard about the explosions and contacted the teachers by text messages, and informed them they should come back to school.

He said: "I had been aware of the station explosions, so I contacted the teacher in charge and we decided it would be best for them to come back.

"I am very pleased with the way in which the teachers handled the situation and how the coach company worked with us." The children arrived back at school at 3pm. Schools throughout the borough worked closely with Croydon Council as the terror attacks threatened to leave a number of children with no home for the night.
