A heavily pregnant woman was kicked in the stomach three times during a violent robbery.

The woman, who is seven months pregnant, was walking home when she was attacked in Penrith Road, Thornton Heath.

The 29-year-old had her bag snatched after being approached by her attackers at 4.30pm on Thursday, December 9.

As she struggled to keep hold of the bag she was kicked three times in the stomach before the group of four fled.

She was taken to the nearby Mayday Hospital for tests and released the following day. She had severe bruising.

Detective Constable Richard Linnell of Croydon's robbery squad, appealed for witnesses to the attack.

He said: "It is vital that we find these men. This attack was despicable and thankfully both the victim and her unborn child are now doing fine."

The man who snatched the bag ran towards an alleyway that is parallel to Penrith Road. He is black, aged 20, 6ft 2in and was wearing a black jacket and dark clothing. He was with a white man, 20, who was wearing a white t-shirt and two black youths aged 16 and 18.
