Green-minded residents are being encouraged to spare a thought for the environment over the festive season and to recycle their Christmas trees.
More than 6million trees were bought last Christmas in the UK, most of which were thrown out after December, creating 9,000 tonnes of extra rubbish.
In Croydon 6,000 Christmas trees were recycled after the festive season and used to make Croypost the council's own garden mulch which is made from recycled garden and green waste.
As well as taking your trees to the council's recycling sites on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday January 8 and 9 you can drop them off at: Co-op in Addiscombe, Homebase, Purley Way, Lion Green car park in Coulsdon, Wyevale Garden Centre in Waddon Way, Oaks Road Green, Kenley, Central Parade, New Addington, Granville Gardens car park, Norbury, Dale Road car park, Purley, Occasionally Yours in Sanderstead, Monks Orchard Green, Shirley, Sainsbury's in Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood, and Secret Garden in Upper Norwood.
