Members of Croydon's Royal British Legion have paid tribute to one of their members who died last Monday.

John Arnold, 70, from Eastney Road, Croydon, collapsed after taking part in a Remembrance Day march outside the Town Hall on Sunday, November 14.

Mr Arnold, who served in the RAF while completing his national service, collapsed when he suffered a heart attack near the Katharine Street war memorial.

Members of the Salvation Army and ex-servicemen who had been marching with the veteran rushed to his aid before he was taken by ambulance to Mayday Hospital, where he died two weeks later.

Friend and branch secretary of Croydon's Royal British Legion, Chad Carress said: "He will be sorely missed by all the members of the Croydon branch and all his friends and everyone who knew him."
