Work on the £25million Ashburton Learning Village has begun with part of the old school building being demolished.
Part of the old building is being knocked down to make way for the state-of-the-art complex. The remainder of the school will relocate to the new premises when the project is complete.
The three-storey village due to open in 2006 will include a new public library, a new headquarters for the Croydon Music Service and new sports facilities including a multi-games area.
