AN UNEMPLOYED shopfitter was found dead by healthworkers after taking 18 times the normal dose of a prescription drug.
Karl David, 32, had been suffering from a schizophrenia-like illness and had a history of Ecstasy and cannabis use, an inquest heard.
Occupational therapist Pamela Butterly said she and a colleague went to Mr David's flat, above a shop in College Road, Bromley, because she had not heard from him for some time.
They found him lying dead under a duvet. A night-light and a television were still on and there were several empty tablet packets strewn around, coroner's officer Alan Goddard said.
Mr David's GP had prescribed Propranolol and Mr David had found it useful but had not used the medication regularly, Croydon Coroner's Court heard.
Dr Ghosh said: "He was not regarded as a potential suicide risk but he had said life was not worth living.
"I think he lost hope about getting better in the future."
Pathologist Dr Peter Jerreat said Mr David had taken several different drugs, including 18 times the therapeutic dose of Propranolol, which was the main cause of his death.
Coroner Dr Roy Palmer recorded a verdict of suicide.
