Police are hunting a man who stabbed a motorist in the chest after he stopped to visit a Herne Hill convenience store.

The 25-year-old man was stabbed at about 9.10pm on February 28 as he tried to drive away from Costcutter in Norwood Road.

Police said as he looked to drive away, his path was blocked by another vehicle.

Officers said a black man got out of the car and approached the victim. After a struggle between the two men, the 25-year-old was stabbed.

The man was rushed to hospital with a wound to the chest. Police said he was in a stable condition.

The area was cordoned off as officers searched for clues.
