Palace boss Iain Dowie is back in the country and set to start wheeling and dealing in the transfer market. Here's how the Rumour Mill shapes up this week.

Dowie is ready to rub salt in West Ham's wounds by launching a £2million bid for striker Marlon Harewood and former Eagle Hayden Mullins.

Harewood, 24, joined the Hammers from Nottingham Forest for £500,000 in November but fell out with Alan Pardew, who played him on the right wing.

Utility-midfielder Mullins, 26, left Palace for £600,000 last year to improve his prospects of Premiership football, but was repeatedly played at left back as the Hammers' automatic promotion bid failed.

Sunderland have rejected a £2million Palace bid for 18-goal striker Kevin Kyle. The 23-year-old scored three times against Palace last season, but Mick McCarthy wants Kyle to lead the Black Cats to automatic promotion next season.

Cash-strapped Dundee have rejected Palace's £500,000 bid for 25-year-old Argentine keeper Julian Speroni, despite being in administration.

Dowie has missed out on former loan-signing Nico Vaesen, who has taken up Birmingham's two-year offer, and may now turn his attention to Sunderland's Thomas Myhre if the Black Cats' asking price is reasonable.

Fulham are still considering Palace's £1million bid for defender Mark Hudson, 22, who spent three months on loan at Palace. Fuham's veteran striker Barry Hayles is available after being released.

Southampton's Fitz Hall was another player Dowie signed for Oldham, who he is now keen to bring to Selhurst Park for £300,000. The 23-year-old made just seven Premiership starts last season.

Arsenal's Ray Parlour has been linked but he is unlikely to leave during his testimonial year at Highbury and rejected West Brom's offer last week.

Former Palace striker Matt Jansen is another possible target after starring against Dowie in Steve Kember's testimonial.

The injury-plagued 27-year-old has made just five appearances for Blackburn in 2004 and should be available on a free transfer.
