John Crumplin admits the next week could make or break Walton & Hersham’s Ryman Division One South play-off hopes.

The Swans moved back into the play-off places with a comfortable 3-0 win over neighbours Walton Casuals on Tuesday night, avenging their Boxing Day defeat at the Waterside.

But after Saturday’s clash at Eastbourne Walton then face fellow play-off sides Fleet Town and Godalming Town in midweek games.

Crumplin said: “It is in our own hands now and we just need to keep picking up points.

“There is no doubt though that next week is going to be murder - we have four games in eight days and they are all vital.

“We are back in form now - people kept telling me we were having a blip but I don’t really think going three matches without winning is too much of a blip.

“I think the squad are being harshly judged and they are determined to succeed.”

Will Jenkins, Jordan Cheadle and Kevin Lock grabbed the derby goals as the Swans put the Stags to the sword.

And Crumplin was delighted with how his side had performed.

He added: “It was a comfortable win and it could have been more if we had taken our chances.

“The players were reminded about the Boxing Day defeat on a few occasions and they responded.

“I thought we were well organised, passed the ball around well and were worthy winners.”

Crumplin also had some consoling words for Casuals counterpart Spencer Collins, who now finds himself well and truly in the relegation mire.

The Swans boss added: “It would be a real shame if they were to go down this season.

“They did not give up on Tuesday night and as long as they show that fight I think they will be OK.

“In a perfect world next season we will be in the Ryman Premier and they will still be in this division.”
