Croydon's multi-coloured skyline set the mood for Manhattan Nights at Fairfield Concert Hall, writes Micky Taylor.
The performance of this Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond tribute show was nothing short of brilliant.
Performed by Craig Neil and Mayfair Summers, with the orchestra under the direction of Julian Reeve and the excellent backing vocals and dancers, it was a classy show.
Singing Streisand and Diamond songs as a duo and individually, they thrilled the rather sparse audience.
The duet You Don't Bring Me Flowers was stunning and won a standing ovation. Craig Neil sent shivers down my spine with his excellent version of Love On The Rocks.
He sang like Neil Diamond, looked like Neil Diamond and created the same stage mannerisms as this great star.
When Mayfair Summers took the stage it was like the great lady herself was in Croydon! Ms Summers had me hot under the collar when she performed Pappa and Piece of Sky with immense feeling. Songs from West Side Story, Somewhere and Something's Coming, really gave the dancers a chance to shine.
The final duets of New York, New York and Sweet Caroline were amazing and brought well deserved applause and curtain calls.
