I have recently become the proud owner of a cat, who was saved by the Cat Protection Society, when he was discovered wild at around one a half years old. He is a very friendly home loving cat, and it is hard to believe that he was once wild.
The Cat Protection Society is the UK's leading feline welfare charity. They rehome and reunite 55,000 cats and kittens every year, through their network of over 250 voluntary-run branches and 29 adoption centres.
They have around 7,000 cats in their care at any one time and will help you find your perfect companion and friend. Phone their Helpline on 03000 121212 (Monday to Friday; 9am-5pm) to find a branch or adoption centre near you. Then tell them what type of cat you are looking for, and they will help you find a suitable friend. This includes visiting your home to ensure that you are given the right type of cat for your environment. Then you visit the cats and learn more about the cats’ personalities from the cat care assistants. Make your choice and take your new friend home. This service is free but donations are welcome, as it can cost up to £150 per cat to look after them. They don’t always arrive in a good condition!
