A farmer has become so angry with vandals damaging his fence he is offering a reward for information leading to their conviction.

John Kent, 66, of the Coulsdon Area Farm is “fed up” of vandals who keep cutting his fences so they can walk their dogs on his grazing land and is offering a £500 reward.

The farmer, who has worked the same land for the last 45 years said the land was an area he previously grew cereals on so he never had a problem with people using the land.

However, for the past five years Mr Kent has been grazing animals on the land and is now worried some of the animals may get loose and cause havoc on the A23 which runs parallel to the farm.

Mr Kent said: “We never used to have any reason to fence it off but now we are using it for grazing we have to.

“Unfortunately someone seems to think the land is an extension of their garden and not mine and repeatedly cuts the fence wire, meaning animals are free to get out and onto the road.

“I have put signs up offering a reward for information that leads to a prosecution because if I catch the people doing this I will rearrange their ears.”

The fence was damaged again on Friday with all five strands of barbed wire cut.

Mr Kent added: “This is beyond a joke, whoever is doing this clearly has no regard for other people’s safety.”
