We’ve all had builders in our house at one point. They tend to be lovely people (preferably Polish), who are accomplished at their job and work diligently--with the rare exceptions. But with all the excitement of flamboyant furnishings, extensions and the like, we tend to forget about the things that effect us in a slightly different way.

It’s impossible to request that anyone should finish revamping a house within a day (unless it is within your price range). The problem occurs when you end up living in the work in progress. Surely we would be more aware that we are residing within a potential health and safety hazard?--Yet, the loose floorboards and deadly carpet grippers go unnoticed. I can assure you that treading on said carpet gripper bare foot is something that most of us should avoid, if possible--heaven forbid you get a stain in your brand-new--and quite expensive--carpet.

You might think that I am over exaggerating, which is probably true; however, for the purpose of preventing accidents, I recommend that you make yourself aware of the possible risk at hand. I’m not asking that you become overly paranoid, and isolate yourself from the danger; I only ask that you make yourself more aware of your surroundings. It would be such a shame to ruin the excitement with a disastrous injury. Though highly unlikely, it is not impossible. You never know, you could be thanking me later.
