Community groups can get their hands on a pool of more than £250,000 to help develop their projects.

Grants of £12,000 are available to each ward in Lambeth for local projects to spend on small building works or to buy new equipment.

Up to three projects from the same ward can split the cash from the Community Action Fund, but resources can also be pooled for cross-border projects.

Residents are asked to contact their ward councillor if they know of a scheme that can benefit from the funding.

Community groups which have benefited in the past include a sheltered housing scheme that got a Wii Fit for elderly residents, and a youth project receiving a table tennis table.

Councillor Lib Peck, cabinet member for regeneration and housing, said: “Cash from the Community Action Fund can make a huge difference to a local organisation and community."

The deadline for entry is February 15, and the money must be spent by May 31.

Projects for this year’s local Community Action Fund will be selected by February 15 and must be completed by May 31.
