Corinthian Casuals boss Brian Adamson is demanding his side shape up after a dismal January all but wiped out their promising start to the season.Seven defeats in the last nine games has seen the amateurs slide down the Ryman Division One South table.

And after the latest setback, a 4-0 loss at Horsham YMCA on Saturday, Adamson reckons enough is enough.

He said: “Everyone at the club knows that what has happened recently is just not acceptable.

“We have to change and we have to change quickly or suddenly we will find ourselves fighting relegation again.

“I am not going to let that happen as we are a much better team than that.

“The players have to take this message on board and start putting in performances as quickly as possible.”

Adamson reacted to the Horsham defeat by drafting in former Tooting centre-half Matt Kidson on Monday, with the promise of more signings to come.

And the Casuals boss is confident things will soon turn the corner.

He added: “I always said that with the long break we had over Christmas the teams that were going well would be disrupted and we fall into that category.

“In simple terms it is like starting the season all over again and we have not got the pace back.

“We are making silly errors and conceding too many goals.

“At Horsham we were horrible for the first 70 minutes and I have no complaints about the result.

“The only positive I can take is for the last 20 minutes we looked to be back into our stride and we have to take that forward.

“With all the rescheduled fixtures we have a lot of away games coming up and we need to get some points on the board sooner rather than later.”
