Plans for a new West Norwood fire station have been delayed due to a funding shortfall.
A new station was due for completion in 2012-13. However London Fire Brigade's (LFB) failure to sell its old central London headquarters for development means there is no cash to build the new state-of-the-art facilities.
Now the £4.75m project has been put back to at least 2013-14.
The LFB said it had found a site - that cannot be revealed for commercial reasons - and was hoping to complete the purchase soon.
An LFB spokesman said the current site cannot be revamped because of its grade II status.
