A suspected Second World War bomb found in a Raynes Park street has turned out to be a block of concrete.
Tolverne Road was evacuated and a "crisis centre" set up in Holy Mount Primary School after builders discovered an unidentified object.
Police were called to the scene in Tolverne Road at the junction with Worple Road.
A police spokesman said they were called by workmen who had discovered a suspicious item.
The roads were expected to reopen and residents be allowed back to their homes following the false alarm.
