Keen fundraiser Stacey Maben shaved off her hair to raise money for injured servicemen and women.

Miss Maben, 25, who went to Stanley Park School in Wallington and now lives in The Globe, Coulsdon, had no doubts in her mind when a hairdresser at Sean Hanna in Sutton whipped out a razor to shave off her red, shoulder-length hair.

Miss Maben – who has many friends and family members in the army – wanted to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes.

Her brother, Steven Killick of 3 Rifles in Wales, who went to Coulsdon High School, friend Patrick Mulligan of 3 Rifles and Rob Nicholls of 3 Rifles have just returned from a six-month deployment in Afghanistan. Friend Lt Cpl John Copson is currently on deployment in Afghanistan.

She said: “I feel very proud of what I’ve done. It felt a bit weird at first but I’m quickly getting used to having no hair.”

So far Miss Maben has raised around £500 – and still has funds to count.

Miss Maben said: “I hope the money I’ve raised will make a difference.”
