Revellers in the town centre are being urged to drink responsibly as the police and council launch the Think Safe Drink Safe campaign.

Three posters will be displayed in local pubs and clubs. They say: NO - No Thanks, No Problem, No Trouble - such small words can make a big difference to your night out.

FRIENDS - Stay Together, Stay Safe - reminds people that they can text HOME to 60835 for local licensed minicab and taxi information for getting home safely.

PACE - Small decision, big result - a simple message advising people to pace their drinks and stay out of trouble.

Councillor Gavin Barwell, cabinet member for safety and cohesion, said: “We want everyone who comes here to have a great time, but we also want to make sure they behave responsibly - for their own safety and for our residents.”

Borough commander Adrian Roberts said: “Our message to young people is that drinking too much can make you vulnerable, and seriously impair your judgement - so if you don’t drink responsibly you are more at risk of becoming a victim of crime, or becoming involved in crime or antisocial behaviour yourself.”
