Neil Warnock says the standing ovation Alan Lee got from the Crystal Palace fans on Saturday was just desserts for his hard work.

The striker had a much-maligned first season at Selhurst Park last year and was loaned out to Norwich City for the final month and looked to be heading out the exit door.

However, a series of committed displays has seen him win over both his manager and the fans and his goal against Watford was his fourth of the season, already one more than the previous campaign.

"I was pleased for Alan," said Warnock.

"He is working really hard at the minute and has started playing really well over the last dozen games.

"If the fans see somebody trying their hardest and giving their all for the team they will appreciate it."
