The scouts’ bargain Christmas postal service which celebrates its 21st birthday this year started operating this week and has collection boxes in a variety of venues from shops.

The 7th Epsom (Methodist) Scout Group, the largest scout group in the UK, will deliver Christmas mail for just 17p per item.

The area covered is once again Epsom, Ewell, Stoneleigh, Cuddington, Ashtead, Tadworth and Epsom Downs (the areas covered by the KT17 to KT21 post code areas).

Put your post along with the 17p per item, in the special yellow post boxes or the large blue ones in The Ashley Centre or in the Scout H.Q. letter box behind the Methodist church in Ashley Road, Epsom.

The last collection is at 4pm on Saturday, December 19.

The post boxes will also act as collection points for donations for the Parkinsons Christmas tree of memories in Epsom High Street.

Put the donation and a note of the memory you want commemorated in the post box and the scouts will do the rest.

For more information ring 01372 727191.

The scouts would welcome help in sorting and delivering the post. Contact Neil Dallen on 01372 728187.

The scout group which has 350 members is to start building its new £650,000 scout headquarters next year but it still needs to raise £100,000 to complete the project.

The group is hoping that its Christmas post scheme will help raise some much needed cash for the scheme.
