19th November, almost midnight. All seemed quiet in Kingston, but really secretly, hundreds of devoted twilight fans were racing to the Odeon cinema. Why? Because the Twilight Sequel, New Moon was being launched for the very first time in the UK. Following the success of the previous film, Twilight, (an adaptation of a majorly successful novel written by Stephenie Meyer), there was almost a guarantee that all of the tickets would be sold out in minutes and, as predicted, it happened. The twilight crazed fans were the first to grab their tickets for the showings across the UK. None of them could resist being the first to see Hollywood heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner make their debut performances across the big screen. I was lucky enough to be just one of the many people (mainly teenage girls) attend the midnight screening at Kingston. The atmosphere was immense, devotees dressed as characters, screaming at the cardboard cut outs, everlasting popcorn lines, chattering amongst the fans. At last, as midnight struck, the highly anticipated film began, along with cheering and whooping from the energized audience. After several hours, the film came to an end. As I was leaving the cinema, comments were filling the air, “The film was fantastic”, or “It wasn’t as good as the book”. Miss C Pitcher, one of the excited yet exhausted fans leaving the building said, “I think that this new idea of midnight showings was absolutely fantastic! It just made the whole experience much more exciting. The film was brilliant too and I just can’t wait for the next one to be released! ”.
