Two town centre redevelopments in Kingston and Tolworth have been chosen in a London-wide celebration of newly improved public spaces.
The Tolworth town centre regeneration and the Ancient Market Place have not been started but still made the list of 36.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said: “I want to work with the boroughs and other bodies to shape and breathe new life into London’s public spaces. This means creating a network of well designed and enticing outdoor areas, which increase our city’s popularity as a place to live in, visit and invest.”
When both schemes are finished they could be given a Mayor’s Great Spaces award.
