Parents reacted angrily to news of the Christmas fair cancellation by North Pole UK.

Roxanne Gent, 18, a mother-of-one from Mitcham, had tickets to take her 15-month-old son, Frankie.

She said: “My mum told me that it had been cancelled and I’m very disappointed.

"At first I thought she was joking and then I couldn’t believe it. I was looking forward to taking my little boy there.”

Miss Gent’s mother, Lisa, who paid £125 for her five tickets, said: “I think it’s disgusting. It’s letting kids down. It has certainly let my children and grandchildren down. I don’t care about the money back, it’s just the disappointment what’s bothering me.”

Amy Campbell, a mum-of-two from Surbiton, had bought four tickets for the event and spent a total of £100.

She said: “I was going to take my children to the event.

"I’m a little bit upset with the way the company did not even tell us about it and I had to hear it from a friend who called me. I’m just worried about getting my money back now.”

Nikki Heffernan, from Walton-on-Thames, said: “We booked tickets for the whole family to go on my twins’ second birthday in December.

"My children, especially my eldest, will be really upset. It looked so good on the website and was so much more affordable than some of the other ‘Santa lands’. I’m gutted. We even recommended it to friends who also booked tickets.”

A mum, who did not want to be identified, said: “I told all my friends about this and I am now quite embarrassed. This is absolutely disgusting.

“They had never sent out any kind of confirmation for the tickets or anything. I’m not surprised it has been cancelled.”

North Pole UK has told the Epsom Guardian all customers will receive their money back.

A notice on the company’s website read: “We have instructed Paypal to make refunds on all credit and debit card payments. Please note that all these monies are held by Paypal and so your money is fully protected.

“We are currently writing cheque refunds for those who paid in that way.

“We appreciate you would like to talk to us in person but we are currently working through the refund process and hope you will understand that individual calls will slow that down for all.”
