Tim O'Shea says there is no need to panic despite Croydon Athletic slipping to eighth position in Ryman League Division One South after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Ramsgate.

The Rams have been strongly tipped to win the league this year but currently sit outside the play-off places, although they do have two games in hand over top of the table Worthing, who are eight points ahead.

They have won just one of their last four league games but O'Shea says there is still a long way to go.

"Every side has a blip and we are just going through ours," he said.

"We just have to work even harder to get out of it.

"We are looking at a minimum of two points per game as our realistic target so we are a couple of games short of that at the minute.

"But as a club we are focussed and we have got a mere 31 games left still.

"It is closer than ever this season though and there will be half a dozen teams there or there about at the end of the season."

Last night, goals from new signing Charlie Sharman and top scorer Gary Noel sealed a 2-0 win over Corinthian Casuals in the Isthmian League Cup.

On Saturday, the Rams face high-flying Folkestone Invicta, who have lost just once and conceded only seven times in 13 games at the KT Stadium "They are a really dogged and determined side and work together as one," said O'Shea.

"All credit to their manager Neil Cugley, he is doing an excellent job for them and it is going to be a tough game."

Next three matches: Nov 14 Folkestone Invicta (h), 17 Banstead Athletic (Surrey County Cup, a), 21 Walton Casuals (a).
