Sutton Schools Borough U11s defeated Croydon 1-0 at home in a league clash between the top two teams in Surrey.
In a tight and goalless first half, neither side was able to gain the upper hand with Croydon having more possession but Sutton defending resolutely.
In the second half, Sutton began to turn the screw and took the lead when Noah Vezzu’s free kick was scrambled in by Tommy Hicks. Croydon did mount a response, but with ‘keeper Robert Feeley in fine form and the back four of Jeevan, Morcombe, McGee and Hopper rock solid, Sutton kept a clean sheet for the second week running and grabbed all the points.
South West Trains Sutton player of the match with another outstanding display in midfield was Noah Vezzu. Sutton play Barking and Dagenham this Saturday in the Gills Shield (Mill Lane 11.15)
