A Croydon card cheat who used fake identities to con thousands of pounds from casinos across the country has been jailed.

Abdullah Toksoz, 40, gained a huge advantage over other players by marking cards with a pin head hidden under one of his fingernails, raking in up to £3,000 each time.

The Turkish national was banned from all UK casinos in the mid-1990s but used false Italian, Bulgarian and American documents to trick his way in to establishments in London, Liverpool and Manchester.

Police arrested him at Heathrow in June with £7,000 in US dollars in his pockets.

Toksoz, who is married with a young daughter, was jailed for 16 months at Southwark Crown Court after admitting using six fake identities between 2005 and 2008.

He faces deportation on his release.

The gambler, who specialised in the card game brag, sold his Doncaster kebab shop in 2003 to fund his playing and was well known to the International Association of Casino Security.
