The average community is built of various different people with different occupations minding each others business. Within these communities people bond through work, through education or bumping into a neighbour in a coffee shop. It consists of people we get on with and people we don’t. Normally, that would be just about it, with the odd exceptions…

Southfields is somewhat different. As residents, many have noticed a rather cheerful man who talks to just about everyone. Everybody who has lived in Southfields for a period of time--more recently than, lets say thirty or so years ago--knows him. This cheerful fellow, who is always seen with a smile on his face, with his bike and a can of Stella Artois. His ability of greeting any person at any given time may be awkward for some, but he has good intentions at heart. It’s definitely fair to say that Southfields just wouldn’t be the same without him.

Unfortunately, we still haven’t confirmed his name yet. Other than that, his presence is one that is guaranteed you will not forget. As Phyllis Diller said, “A smile is a curve that sets everything straight”.
