Two specialist advisers have been appointed by the Epsom and Ewell Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to deal with the increasing demand for debt advice.

Anna Beadle and Tina Sledger will be out and about talking to members of the community on managing money. They will also give one-to-one advice on debt management.

Help in funding the posts has come from Epsom and Ewell Borough Council; Rosebery housing association; MSE Charity and Smith and Byford.

Sebastian Taylor, housing director of Rosebery housing association said: “Many of our tenants are on low incomes or dependent on benefits.

“As a responsible landlord we were very happy to support this initiative that will help us prevent debt and provide support to those facing financial difficulties”.

Overall debt and finance accounted for 16 per cent of all inquiries to the bureau in 2008-09 with benefits accounting for 24 per cent.
