Stoneleigh Athletic U12A won 7-1 at Banstead Town in the Epsom & Ewell Youth League last weekend.

Tommy Ryan-Maynard opened the scoring after a number Stoneleigh attacks were kept at bay by a packed Banstead defense.

Banstead then pushed forward to breakdown the impressive defense of Reiss Skinner, Ross Garlick , Alex Tokatlian and Ryan Shaw and scored past Ashley Castle in Stoneleigh’s goal.

When George Marcella was brought down in the area Joel Tyler converted the awarded penalty. Matthew Helps added to the score line before half time when he powered home his first goal for the club from a cleverly worked free kick by Dominic Sandy.

The second half saw Stephen Baker go close to scoring as an ascendant Stoneleigh team which add to their score with goals from Luke Whistler, Joel Tyler and Abinay Redding (2) to conclude an exciting and entertaining display by the youngsters.

Coach Rob Garlick said: “The team were focused on getting this win today and did so playing skilful and attractive football. The variety of goal scorers and goal providers shows the strength in depth this team has.”

Stoneleigh Athletic U14 Colts came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 draw with Woodmansterne Hyde in a clash of the top two. Matthew Hall and Harry Burroughs got their goals.

Manager Paul Hoskins said “The team was determined not to lose their unbeaten league record.”
