Julian Speroni: Probably Palace’s best player on the night, saving a penalty and then making a great one on one save from DJ Campbell after Claude Davis was caught ball watching. Man of the match. 8
Danny Butterfield: At fault for the second goal, but Palace were already beaten by then. Showed the attackers the way to goal with his long range shooting. 6
Patrick McCarthy: Untroubled throughout and had Matt Fryatt in his pocket. Even had a go at the Leicester forward when he took a tumble when attempting to break into the penalty box. 7
Jose Fonte: Always looks better with McCarthy beside him, pushed up front as Palace went for an equaliser late on in the game. 6
Clint Hill: Pushed forward when required and delivered his long throw into the opposition box when called upon. 6
Alassane N’Diaye: Played in his deeper role just behind the front man and was a threat throughout. Great going forward, fantastic touch and nearly had an assist when Alan Lee put his cross wide of the upright. 7
Shaun Derry: Worked hard in midfield, but couldn’t get Palace moving. Even had a long range shot at goal, but was woefully wide. 7
Neil Danns: Like his captain, grafted in the middle of the park but to no avail. 7
Nick Carle: Poor game for Carle, looked half a yard short in the tackle and so it proved when he gave away the penalty. 4
Freddie Sears: Great to see the on-loan from West Ham forward get a full game after his lay-off. Full of running, always looking to get in on goal but let down by lack of service. 7
Alan Lee: Should have scored in the 61st minute but somehow put wide from inside the penalty box. Caused problems up front but lost his way as the game wore on. 6
Subs:
Darren Ambrose (Carle, 71): Would have been good to see him start, but after picking up a knock against Cardiff only the subs bench beckoned. Not enough time to impress. 6
Stern John (Lee, 71): Came on with Ambrose, but failed to spark Palace into life. Needs match fitness but that will come and then we will start to see the best of him. 5
Claude Davis (N'Diaye, 78): Allowed Jose Fonte to go up front but his sole contribution was letting in DJ Campbell for a run on goal. 5
