The Nutcracker, performed by the Russian State Ballet Academy of Perm, will be appearing for the first time at the Epsom Playhouse next month.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet tells the tale of a young girl who is given a Nutcracker doll and escapes into a dreamworld where she encounters a host of characters including a prince and a mouse king.

The Russian Ballet Academy of Perm is one of the most prestigious in Russia with a worldwide reputation for excellence.

Perm graduates have achieved success across the globe captivating audiences from America and Australia, to Ireland and Japan with their high level of artistic skill.

Perm itself is a beautiful city situated on the banks of the Kama River, beneath the Ural Mountains.

Famous names born of training through the Academy include the legendary Nadezhda Pavlova, Galina Ragoshina-Panova, Lyubov Kunakova, Galina Shlyapina, Olga Tchentchikova, Marat Daukayev, Svetlana Smirnova and Ludmila Vasilyeva.
