Captain Shaun Derry has urged Crystal Palace to carry their form the game against Manchester City into Monday's trip to Peterborough United.

The Eagles may have lost 2-0 to City on Thursday night but gave a spirited performance, causing their opponents a number of problems and having 15 shots.

However, they come back down to earth with a bump on Monday with a trip to London Road and Derry is urging his colleagues to repeat their performance from the Carling Cup, despite the huge gap between the two opponents.

"With no disrespect to Peterborough its chalk and cheese at times," he said.

"You are not going to come up against opponents like City week in week out but what we've got to do is take it into Monday's game and realise we can play like we can against these top players and reproduce it.

"What you find in the Palace dressing room is a real honest group of players and we realise the bread an butter is winning the league games.

"Believe it or not we are also looking forward to being on Sky again on Monday showing people what we are about and getting three points."

Derry also admitted his surprise that a Premier League club has yet to bid for goalkeeper Julian Speroni, who produced another fine performance against City.

"I am surprised there hasn't been a bid," he said.

"He's a great goalie.

"I've played with a number of good ones in the past and he is right up there.

"Who knows what is going to happen though?

"We don't want to court bids for him but we know everybody has their price.

"Julian wins us games single-handedly at times and he's a great goalie to have, a great guy as well."
