A gardening gauntlet has been thrown down in Wimbledon, where the search is on for the tallest sunflower.
One woman’s plant has shot up to an incredible 11ft - and now she has challenged anyone else to top the height.
Keen gardener Posey Furnish, of Wimbledon Chase, put the success down to help from her own budding horticulturalist.
She said: “It is down to the tender loving care of my two-year-old, Owen, who started to talk to plants as they grew.”
The Whatley Avenue resident said the family’s love of organic food was also a factor.
She said: “Because we grow vegetables alongside them, the soil needs to be in really good condition.”
