A man is seriously injured in hospital after his car overturned following a collision in Banstead in the early hours of this yesterday morning (August 20).

At about 3.15am a red Seat Ibiza was travelling along Holly Lane, Banstead when it left the road and landed on its roof.

The driver, believed to be a man in his 20s, suffered serious head injuries but the passenger only received cuts and bruises.

Both men were initially taken to St Helier Hospital but the driver was later transferred to St George’s Hospital in Tooting where his condition is described a ‘serious’.

Holly Lane was closed in both directions following the accident but reopened later.
