A Croydon resident may hold a winning lottery ticket for over £1million.

The search is on to locate the owner of the missing Lotto jackpot ticket worth £1,316,462, bought in Croydon.

The lucky winner matched all six numbers in the Lotto draw on May 16, 2009. The winning numbers were 1, 5, 9, 27, 42 and 45.

A National Lottery spokesman said: “We’re desperate to find this mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings – this amazing prize could really make a difference to somebody’s life and is sure to put a smile on any bank manager’s face.

“We’re urging everyone to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding over the Bank Holiday weekend.

“Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa whether staying at home this bank holiday or before travelling away for the weekend, someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune.

“We have the champagne on ice, the bank cheque written and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their prize in time.”

The mystery winner must come forward before 5.30pm on November 12, 2009 to claim their prize.

If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the prize claim deadline, then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to the Good Causes – adding to the £23 billion already raised through sales of lottery tickets since The National Lottery launched in November 1994.

Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0845 910 0000.
