A guitar-playing folk singer could soon be serenading commuters if she wins the public's vote.
After sending in an audition video, Emmeline Hastings, of Woodside Avenue, South Norwood, was picked with 53 other young Londoners to perform on a prime Underground busking pitch last month as part of the Rhythm of London event.
Miss Hastings, 22, now faces an online public vote to identify the best 20 voters. The shortlist will then be narrowed again by a panel of judges before a live “busk-off” at the O2 on September 17, with the winner gaining the right to busk on the Tube for a year.
The design graduate, who performed at gigs throughout her time at university, said: “One way or another, I'd like to be able to make money from music. We weren't allowed to collect on the day, though, so I'm not sure what my commercial prospects are!”
Voting closes at 5pm on August 31.
