Some of the competitors at the next Epsom Downs race meeting will be equipped with just two legs instead of the usual four.

Epsom Downs Racecourse will once again be opening their gates for the popular bank holiday family fun day on Monday, August 31, and the event starts with the usual and very popular children’s races along part of the track.

Among the more traditional races will be the amateur jockey’s Derby run over the famous mile and a half Derby course.

There will also be a sprint race which will see the horses thunder down the course from Tattenham Corner.

Both the Queen’s Stand and the Duchess’s stand will be open at just £15 per person with under 16s admitted free.

There will be lots of children’s entertainment, including a racing car simulator, bouncy castles, a bungee run, a football challenge, face painters and much more.

The majority of entertainment will be located in the main enclosures however inflatables will be in the Lonsdale Enclosure. Entry costs £5 per person.

Gates open at midday with the first race at 2pm and the last race at 5.30pm.
