St Giles Church in Ashtead is about to re-open after a major restoration and modernisation programme.
The church, which dates back to the 12th century, will open its doors with a flourish in a weekend of special events lasting from Friday, September 11, to Sunday, September 13.
There will be special flower displays in the church and activities and games for children and families both in the church hall and in the church grounds.
Friday’s events include a concert with Vox Angelica and on Saturday there will be nature trails, a treasure hunt, a photographic competition, children’s craft sessions, a puppet show and a lunch time barbecue.
There will be a family praise party in the church at 5pm and between 7.30pm to 8pm a Taize time with prayer and reflection.
Sunday starts with a 9am choral communion service with robed choir and traditional liturgy followed by a family service at 11am and a 6pm service of thanksgiving with former bishop of Coventry, bishop Colin Bennetts.
For more details and tickets for the concert contact the St George’s Christian Centre on 01372 813964.
