New research has revealed the planned expansion of Heathrow would lead to an extra 52 flights a day passing over Carshalton.

Tom Brake MP discovered that the number of flights approaching the airport above the town would increase to 19,141 by 2030.

He said: “I am extremely concerned that the Government is continuing to misinform the public about what the proposed runway will mean for local people.

"I carried out a survey which demonstrated that 70 per cent of residents were opposed to a third runway at Heathrow.

“Not only is the proposed third runway unnecessary on economic and environmental grounds, it will also considerably increase noise pollution, which many already regard as unacceptable.”

At present there are 169 flights a day over Carshalton but, if the third runway is completed, there will be 221 flights a day by 2030.
