Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was left with a broken nose and black eye after she was attacked near her home.
The 50-year-old woman was walking along Grove Road, at the junction with Firs Road, Mitcham, on Monday, August 10, about 10.30pm when a man approached her.
A Wimbledon police spokeswoman said: “The man came up from behind and punched the victom twice on the left side of her face.
"She sustained a broken nose, black eye and swollen cheek.”
The man snatched the woman’s black and white handbag, which contained £300, before running away along Grove Road.
Police described the suspect as a 25-year-old black man, about 6ft 2in tall.
He had a thin face and pointy chin and was wearing a black, long sleeved, hoody, top.
