The winner of a car raffle in Kingston was overjoyed when her daughter compounded the good news two days later by revealing her engagement.
Vicky Elmitt, of Hampton Wick, received a call from her neighbour while she was on holiday, with her husband Ray, and told she had won a brand new Toyota Aygo in the All Saints Church charity raffle.
She bought the tickets just weeks before the draw took place, from her neighbour, and did not even know when the winner was being chosen.
When her daughter Charlotte rang her two days later to tell her about the engagement, Mrs Elmitt decided to present her daughter with the car as an engagement present.
Her daughter is a social worker in Manchester and has no car so she was delighted with the gift and is already planning her first journey to Edinburgh with her new fiance Mark.
Nearly 2,800 tickets were sold for the raffle, which raised £6,500 for the All Saints Appeal, to go toward the renovation of the historic church.
