Kensington Avenue Nursery and Infant School is an effective school where pupils achieve well, according to the school's latest OFSTED report published last week.
The 300 pupil school in Kensington Avenue, Thornton Heath was assessed by inspectors from the Office of Standards and Education, OFSTED, over a four-day period in November.
The report praised the school's;
o well planned curriculum which focused on the pupils' needs;
o efforts to celebrate the diversity of cultural/ethnic backgrounds, languages and faiths within the school;
o strong leadership and high quality of teaching and classroom support throughout the school;
o good relationship between teachers, parents and governors and the very high quality of care for pupils.
The inspectors recommended Kensington Avenue work on improving the pupils' standards in English and in particular improve their listening skills and ability to work independently.
Headteacher, Anne Evans said: "One thing I am very pleased about is that they went right through the school and praised everyone involved with it including the teachers parents, governors and pupils."
Croydon's cabinet member for education, Councillor Louisa Woodley said: "I am delighted that the hard work of the headteacher and staff has been recognised in a report which clearly acknowledges the many strengths of the school."
