The final touches are being put to an important private film and theatre collection which is unveiled to the public next week.

The Sheridan Morley theatre collection was donated to Kingston University by Ruth Leon, the broadcaster and theatre critic’s widow.

Kingston University archivist Katie Giles has themed the large collection around Mr Morley’s life and times and said the library of books, personal letters, cards and memorabilia from showbiz royalty, which he amassed during his lifetime, gives an exceptional insight into the man and his work.

She said: “We’ve got more than 90 crates of material, from his baby books and school reports to personal letters from celebrities.

“It’s an unusual collection because having such a wealth of personal letters and artefacts gives a real insight into not only Sheridan Morley’s work, but who he was, and how others viewed him.”
