A mother-of-two recovered her stolen motorbikes thanks to an appeal launched by the Sutton Guardian.

Kelly Keahey, 27, of Shrewsbury Road, Carshalton, was gutted to discover her children’s motorbikes, worth £600, were stolen from her garden shed about three weeks ago.

Last week, a woman from Mitcham found the motorbikes and took them to the police station, after reading their description in our newspaper.

Miss Keahey said although they were in a bad state, the family was delighted to have them back.

Miss Keahey said: “The bikes need a mixture of oil and petrol at a certain ratio, which wouldn’t have been known by whoever had them and have been filled with petrol only. Brakes and other parts are also missing.

“However, my partner is collecting them and will salvage them if at all possible.

“We would really like to thank the Guardian as it was the article that prompted the return and also the lady that handed them over.

“We obviously realise she didn’t have to do so, so we are very thankful there are still some honest, decent people in our community.”

Miss Keahey’s eight-month-old son Kuy and daughter Georgia, eight, had been given the bikes by their father Guy, 23.
