A pervert is wanted by police after groping women and exposing himself in Morden Hall Park.

The man attacked five women, the youngest just 16, after engaging them in conversation during the week-long sequence of attacks.

Police say the assaults, all of which lasted only a few seconds, took place between 12.30am and 3pm on June 25 to 30.

At the weekend, officers conducted a covert operation in the Morden Hall Road park but failed to catch the man.

Police say the man is aged 30 to 50 years old, and has sometimes been seen with a Staffordshire bull terrier.

He is of medium build, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 9in, with thinning grey or blonde hair and a tattoo on his arm. He was seen wearing a blue tracksuit and heavy fake tan.

Detective Sergeant Ben Davies, of Wimbledon CID, said: “I would like to reassure the residents of Merton that police are doing all they can to identify the perpetrator of these offences.

“We are not saying keep away from the area but we are encouraging women who are walking alone through Morden Hall Park to be extra vigilant at this time.

“If anyone is approached by a man fitting the above description, we would urge them to call 999 immediately.”

Zoe Colbeck, property manager at the National Trust run park, encouraged people to be vigilant but not avoid the park completely.

She said: “Most people feel safe in the park, because there are lots of dog walkers about. We are working closely with the police to try and find whoever it is.”

Anyone with information about the attacks should call Wimbledon CID on 020 8649 3147 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
