Nearly 2,000 young people from all over the county descended upon Guildford and Woking on June 20 and 21, to compete in the county’s biggest youth sporting festival, the Proctor and Gamble Surrey Youth Games 2009.

Elmbridge, which entered a record 20 teams, won gold in junior netball, silver in senior netball and bronze in junior boccia and senior hockey.

Councillor Jan Fuller, cabinet portfolio holder for leisure and culture said, “It is great to see children competing with such bravery and determination. I am looking forward to following their progress in local clubs.”
