High street trade may be boosted after a dispute was resolved between Croydon Council and London’s transport chiefs.
Transport for London have agreed to the council’s demands for new signs in London Road which highlight Norbury car park for people unfamiliar with the area.
It is hoped the car park, which is accessible via Granville Gardens, will help increase trade for local businesses and ease the pressures they already face during the economic recession.
Jason Hadden, the Conservative parliamentary challenger to Labour’s Malcolm Wicks MP, said: “I’m delighted TFL have agreed in conjunction with Croydon Council to get these signs up.
“Supporting our shops is crucial during the recession and small steps like this can help to prevent more empty shop windows appearing on our high streets.”
